Projects

Write the project scope

Scope is the agreed work. It lives on the project Overview, not in a separate document unless you also file one under Documents.

  1. Open the project. On Overview, find Scope. This field is required (more than a few words).
  2. Use Start from a template to paste a saved plan, then edit it. Headings become phases; each line under a heading becomes a task.
  3. Write what is in: deliverables, boundaries, what you will not do. Use short headings or a list so the team can scan it.
  4. Save your own templates on the Projects page (name plus the same phased scope text).
  5. Use Summary for a one-screen recap for the list and for people who will not read the full scope.
  6. Click Save on the Overview form. Scope is not auto-saved while you type.
  7. If the customer should see a formal version, create a document and share it to the portal. The Overview scope is for the team.

When the project is Done, you cannot quietly reopen it to add leftover work. Open a follow-up project from the Follow-ups block and write a new scope for the extra work.
